Brother is home after bad accident and went off on my daughter?

I am 25 and married and pregnant but anyways i have legal custody of my brother who is 16 years old. And last week he was on his way home from work and a drunk driver plowed into him and he was in ICU for 5 days and they had to do multiple surgery's on him. Well he also has a 17 year old girlfriend his is 28 weeks pregnant with a baby boy. And well he came home today and everything and he has only said maybe 4 words to me i do not understand. Well i guess being so pumped full of pain meds probably does not help anything. Well anyways i let his girlfriend stay she will be staying to help out while he is on his bed rest. Well anyways tonight he was just more or less on the couch and my daughter who is three years old went up to him and tried to hug him and get on the couch to cuddle up with him. And out of no were he just flips out on her. Is that normal? Can i expect more of these outbursts? I know it is not funny but i was yelling at him and mid way through he just ped out. But anyways i am afraid that he will flip out and hurt someone. Me his girlfriend my daughter or my unborn child i know this may be mean but i am not really worried about my husband that much. What can i do how can i help him and better manage this with him? If you are wondering i have legal custody of him because our mom is a drug addict.
