How can I make gravy for my meat?

I made meat, now I need mushroom gravy for them. I want to make some "from scratch" (gravy powder is OK as long as I'm doing somethign with real mushrooms) - so what do I need? What do I do? I have both raw and canned mushrooms on hand, as well as onions.
